Enterprise Inns has re-opened the pub formerly tenanted by arch-critic and Justice for Licensees leader Inez Ward.

The pub, Mavericks in Newquay, was closed for seven months after Ward left earlier this year.

It's re-opened with a new name, The Brook House Inn, and has undergone a substantial investment.

New landlords Matt Clough and wife Claire Wilson-Clough are keen to build on its initial success by maintaining high standards of service and making the pub more family-friendly.

Matt Clough said: "I've always felt there was a great business opportunity at The Brook House. Claire and I know how popular it used to be in its heyday and we wanted to bring it back to life.

"We are convinced that with our enthusiasm and commitment to creating the right pub atmosphere and offering for our customers we will be able to establish the Brook House Inn as a must visit venue for locals and holidaymakers alike."

Claire Wilson Clough said: "Enterprise Inns has been extremely supportive and the refurbishment has allowed us the best possible start. We're delighted with the positive reaction from our customers."

Drew Milne, regional manager for Enterprise, said: "The Brook House Inn has benefited from a significant refurbishment which will enable Matt and Claire to develop a fantastic food orientated family pub."

"The Brook House Inn was the pub's original name and it seemed appropriate to rename the pub with its original name and focus on the traditional ethos of great quality, excellent service and good value."
