A pub which is often filled with leather-clad bikers will be turning pink to raise funds for a great cause.

Michelle Oastler, a cancer patient at the Royal Marsden Hospital in Kensington, West London, turned to her local when she decided she wanted to give something back as a show of gratitude for the support and treatment she has received.

And on November 28 staff and customers at the Princess of Wales in Merton, South London, will all don pink for the Give a Child a Smile charity event.

Paul Green, tenant at the Young's pub, said: "We have a lot of customers, young and old, who have treatment at the Royal Marsden.

"It is a local cause and it helps a lot of people. We hope that the event will be able to raise between £5,000 to £6,000."

Funds will be raised by selling 200 tickets at £10 each and there will also be a charity auction with prizes donated by local companies.

And, as well as the spectacle of everyone wearing pink - the theme of the hospital's child cancer ward - entertainment will also be provided in the form of live music.

Five piece band Joe Fabulous will perform along with a video link-up with Chicago-based guitarist Joe Jammer.

Paul, who took over the pub in July, said: "We get a range of customers, including bikers, and they have been very supportive of the event.

"What started as a small function for a few family friends is rapidly growing into a really busy night with guests both new and old enjoying the revelry and helping to boost the night's fundraising total."

For more information about the event call the pub on 020 8542 0573.
