MA 150 finalists unveiled
The finalists for the Morning Advertiser 150 club awards for multiple managed operators have been unveiled.
The short-listed finalists are:
• Best Drinks Offer: Ever So Sensible, Market Town Taverns and Pleisure.
• Best Design: Foundation Inns, Moleface Pub Company and Realpubs.
• Best New Site: Grand Union Group, Hillbrook Hotels and Modern British Taverns.
• Most Impressive Growth: Grand Union Group, Loungers and Realpubs.
•Best Newcomer: Foundation Inn, Heartstone Inn and Moleface Pub Company.
• Best Accommodation Offer: C2 Original Inns, Hillbrook Hotel and Merchant Inns.
• Best Food Offer: Anglian Country Inns, Moleface Pub Company, Peach Pub Company and Whiting & Hammond.
Winners, also including the Best Individual category, will be announced at the next MA150 seminar on 29 October at the Sheraton Park Lane, London.
Morning Advertiser editor The PMA Team said: "This is the second year of these awards, which recognise the achievements of the UK's best multiple site managed operators.
"Entries more than doubled compared to the first year and show how members o the MA150 club have been leading the way in so many area of licensed retail."
Free tickets
Members of the MA150 club are entitled to two free tickets to the 29 October event which also includes a full speaker programme.
Speakers include:
• Philip Harrison, founder and managing director of Harrison Design, who designed All Bar One and the new-look for TGI Friday's, will be giving his views on how pub and restaurant design is evolving.
• Ian Payne, chairman of Town & City Pubs and Bay Restaurants, talks on "Ten things I've learned running a leasehold estate."
• Three expanding companies, Ross Saunders of Urban & Country Leisure, Alex Reilley, managing director of Loungers and Adam Marshall, managing director of Grand Union Group, will be talking about what they're doing differently in terms of pub retailing.
• Suzy Jackson, Punch Taverns' head of recruitment and letting, will be explaining the company's approach to multiple tenants.
• There is also a case study section: Rufus Hall, chief executive, Orchid, talks about maximising staff productivity.
• Simon Kaye, chief operating officer, Regent Inns, will be presenting on maximising the quality and quantity of the company's lager sales.
• Brulines sales director Clive Consterdine will also looks at how operators can gain operational transparency.
