SIBA pub conference line-up revealed
The Morning Advertiser has teamed up with the Society of Independent Brewers (SIBA) to hold the first-ever free-to-attend pub retailing conference for microbrewers who run pubs.
The group, which has grown quickly in the past year and now numbers almost 200, is a growing area of retail expertise and differentiation in the sector.
Speakers include Geof Collyer, lead leisure analyst at Deutsche Bank, who provides an overview of the pub market. Mike Edwards, director of sales, multiple on-trade and regionals, Miller Brands, will be examining trends in the beer market. Nick Stafford, who runs SIBA's Direct Delivery scheme, provides an update on route to market.
Chris Holmes, founder of Castle Rock, will be telling delegates about 10 key things he's learned about building a pub estate. SIBA members Alex Brodie, founder of Hawkshead Brewery, Michael Thurlby, founder of Ufford Ales, and Alastair Hook, chief executive and brewmaster of the Meantime Brewing Company, talk about what they do that's different.
Norfolk-based Woodforde's Brewery explains the company's market philosophy and how it has broken out of its heartlands. Stephen Gould, chief executive of Everards Brewery, talks about how micro-brewers have worked with the company to open pubs. Jane Fuller, of Itchen Valley Brewery, outlines how the company started doing things differently after investment from Gerry Robinson.
Beer guru and Morning Advertiser columnist Roger Protz will be providing delegates with a beer drinker's perspective. Award-winning licensee Ali Carter gives her 10 top tips on how to improve a pub's retail offer.
