Pubs cash in on the Ashes
Pubs across the country have been basking in the glory - and counting the pounds - following England's dramatic Ashes triumph.
As the final wicket tumbled yesterday the celebrations started across the land and many pubs reaped the rewards.
At renowned cricket pub the Bat & Ball, in Hambledon in Hampshire, fans gathered to listen to the action unfold on the radio.
Assistant manager Joe May said: "We don't have Sky so we had Test Match Special on digital TV and people were sitting looking at the scorecard.
"We had quite a few cricket fans in and a few came out afterwards for a celebration."
Meanwhile fans who witnessed the victory against Australia at the Oval stadium in London poured into nearby pubs to toast the success of the team.
Hannah Lorraine, licensee of the Old Red Lion in Kennington, said: "We are more of a football pub but we had the cricket on. It helped our trade a bit and we had a few coming in after the match."
And celebrations were not just confined to England; pubs in Cardiff - where the first test was held at the start of the series - also joined the party.
Gary Corp, manager of sports pub the Old Arcade, said: "It definitely gave us a little boost. It was a big sporting weekend because Cardiff played and there was the Premier League matches too.
"Cricket is definitely starting to get a following here now, especially after the first test."
