Darts legends support National Pub Week
Darts legends Eric Bristow and John Lowe have voiced their support for National Pub Week.
The Week, running from 31 October to 7 November, is the brainchild of former Enterprise lessee and pub campaigner Inez Ward.
She hopes the week will help get customers back in pubs. The week has been chosen as it incorporates Halloween, bonfire night and half term.
"This day is to unite the trade and will help all pubs, brewers and everyone involved in the trade," said Ward, who runs the Justice for Licensees and Save the Great British Pub campaign groups.
"The idea is for pubs to to put on events and get people in — both old and new customers."
She added: "The pub has been in the centre of the perfect storm and is suffering, perhaps now is the time for some good news.
"This week will highlight the benefits of the Great British Pub such as the social interaction, promoting community spirit, as well as the countless other benefits that the great British pub has to offer."
John Lowe said: "The Great British Pub — that says it all. Many things in Britain have been Great, but none more so than the pub. It has for many years been the meeting place of social Britain, the place where people exchange stories of their working day, the place to enjoy a well earned drink after a hard day's toil, whether it be in the office or in the factory."
Eric Bristow added: "The British Pub has always been there — we learnt our trade in the pub.
"We will be ever thankful that we where able to hone our skills by competing over a friendly pint of ale with whoever chose to write their name on the list waiting to play.
"We support the National Pub Week, and sincerely trust you will give your support."
