20-year-old gets nationwide Wetherspoon ban
A judge has imposed a nationwide ban on a 20-year-old Waltham Abbey, Essex, going into any Wetherspoons pub following an incident in Harlow last November.
The six month ban applies to any Wetherspoon pubs through the country and follows the incident in which Craig Eaton of Amwell Court, Waltham Abbey, used threatening, abusive and insulting words and behaviour.
In addition to the ban, Judge Christopher Ball QC fined Eaton £75, imposed a 12 month community order on him and a three month 9.30pm to 4.00 am curfew. Passing sentence Judge Ball told Eaton : "You are not allowed into any Wetherspoon pub that is branded by and known to the public as a Wetherspoons pub so those who drink in there will be safe from your aggression.
"The curfew is late enough for you to have a pint after work but it will mean you will not get into fights and trouble when pubs turn out."
The court was told that Eaton works in north London and doesn't get home until 8pm. It also heard that he suffered a motorcycle accident some years ago which had affected his personality and made him liable to aggressive outbursts.
