Punch inn takes vouchers from all

A Punch Taverns inn is offering customers the chance to use discount vouchers from other restaurant chains.

The Greswolde Hotel in Knowle High Street, near Solihull, West Midlands, is running a "Deal for deal" promotion. A sign outside the business says: "Bring any restaurant voucher and we will match it."

The promotion has been running for six weeks and has seen trade increase by an average of 15% per week. The deal will run until the end of July, but may be extended. Customers can bring in vouchers from any restaurant group and their deal will be matched at any time of day or week.

Manager Catherine Yule said: "As long as the vouchers are in date, we will match the deal. It has been great at driving repeat business and giving us drink sales when customers are dining."

The deal started with the Greswolde just accepting vouchers on offer at other Punch Taverns concepts such as two for one and two for £10 deals, but has been extended to include offers from any restaurant group.

Yule said: "We started the deal because of the current challenging climate. The vouchers can be the difference between people going out once a week or going out for lunch as well, as they can use a voucher. We have seen our regulars coming in more often and the promotion has also helped bring in new customers. It has been very good for business."

She added that two-for-one vouchers, 25% off your bill and a free bottle of wine have been the most popular vouchers the Greswolde has had to match.

The Greswolde has 31 rooms, a bar and brasserie. The bar menu features dishes including Hoegaar-den battered fish and chips with home-made tartare sauce (£7.99), and roasted British chicken breast with lemon and garlic dressing (£9.69).
