Connell awarded prestigious BII award
Former Thwaites training manager Mike Connell has been awarded the prestigious BII Hannon Award for exceptional contribution to the industry and work of the BII.
The Award was created in 1995, following the death of Bill Hannon, as a permanent memorial to a man who had a huge influence on the industry.
It serves to recognise the hard work that goes on behind the scenes for the BII and is awarded to those who devote time and effort to the BII.
Connell said: "The timing of this award is perfect as I've recently left Daniel Thwaites to embark on a freelance consultancy career and it's great to receive this recognition just as I've launched my own business.
"Daniel Thwaites is now a client of mine and I look forward to expanding my customer base and sharing my knowledge and ideas with a wider spectrum of businesses."
Connell was nominated to receive the award by BII client development director John Melia. "Mike has been a member of BII for some years and is a former BII NITA Professional Trainer of the Year," he said.
"He managed the BIIAB approved training centre at Daniel Thwaites Brewery for a number of years, delivering a variety of BIIAB courses to licensees and staff. Throughout his time there, he has always been fully supportive of BII and its principles of raising standards.
"Mike became secretary for BII's North West Region three years ago and has once again demonstrated his commitment and support for BII through this role."
