Thwaites considers offers on London hotel
Daniel Thwaites has responded to reports that it has put its five star central London hotel, the Stafford on the market for £80m by confirming it had recently received offers for the property.
The Lancashire-based brewer, pub and hotel operator, which has owned the luxury hotel in St James's since 1995, said no sale has been agreed.
Thwaites also owns a further seven hotels as part of its Shire Hotels and Spas brand.
Antony Spencer, managing director of Shire Hotels, said: "As an AA five red star hotel, in a unique location, we have received a number of approaches from interested parties over the years and have given each of them consideration.
"Savills has handled these on our behalf in the past and will continue to do so. There have been a number of recent expressions of interest, but no sale has been agreed."
Thwaites is currently in the process of restructuring its pub business, with plans to convert 37 of its managed houses to tenancies or leases. Fifty-five pub managers and 31 head office staff are at risk of redundancy.
