Greene King's Scottish brewery Belhaven has put 11 freehold pubs on the market.

The majority of the pubs, which range from the Waterline in Greenock in the west of Scotland to the most northern unit, the Crown in Keith, are currently tenanted although a few are managed houses.

The sales are being handled by agents, Christie + Co.

Values for the freehold interest of the pubs range from £200,000 to £575,000.

Jeff Myers, managing director of Belhaven Pubs, said: "Belhaven has always had a policy of both making pubs available to the marketplace as well as acquiring them, and this year is no different. These units are of good quality and would provide a great opportunity to the right operator. My colleagues in Belhaven sales are also geared up and available with various excellent options of financial support to any interested parties who would like to purchase a pub and consider Belhaven as a potential supplier going forward."

Brian Sheldon, director at Christie + Co, commented: "Contrary to what is being reported, there is good activity in the licensed property market at the moment and, since the turn of the year, the number of bars made available for sale has increased, as has the level of viewings that we are currently experiencing from prospective buyers. Granted values have been affected over the last 18 months and the key word is 'realism' in any disposal or acquisition.

"We are confident that there will be interest in all these pubs from discerning purchasers who are looking to acquire realistically priced pubs in today's market."
