Fuller, Smith & Turner has appointed John Dunsmore, ex-Scottish and Newcastle (S&N) boss, as a non-executive director.

The move is a coup for the London brewer, and follows Dunsmore's recent arrival at Magners cider maker C&C group as its chief executive, nearly a year after overseeing the sale of S&N to Dutch brewing giant Heineken.

Michael Turner, Fuller's chairman, said: "We are delighted that John has agreed to join the board. He has a wealth of experience which we feel will be invaluable to Fuller's and I am very pleased to welcome him to the team."

"There is little doubt that 2009 will be one of the toughest years any of us has faced and having someone of John's calibre on the team can only serve to strengthen our position as industry leaders and our ability to capitalise on any opportunities the downturn may present."

Commenting on his appointment, John Dunsmore said: "I have been in the brewing industry for the majority of my working life and Fuller's is a company I know well and have come to admire.

"I am delighted to be joining the board of such a prestigious company and look forward to assisting the team in the achievement of its long term growth objectives."
