Morrissey and Fox link with Comic Relief
Celebrity brewers and licensees Neil Morrissey and Richard Fox are working together for Red Nose Day 2009 - and will be donating a slice of the takings from the Morrissey Fox Blonde Ale to Comic Relief from the end of the month.
From January 29 to March 13 the pair will be donating 7p per pint and 12p per bottle sold of Morrissey Fox to Comic Relief in the run up to Red Nose Day on March 13. The money will help people living unimaginably tough lives both here in the UK and Africa.
Morrissey Fox Blonde Ale was launched in October following the filming of a Channel 4 documentary about the pair's efforts to brew their own beer and run their own North Yorkshire pub.
"When we saw Red Nose Day were up for a bit of a liquid laugh, we were right on to it," said Morrissey.
"With our motley mugs on our Blonde Ale label, it was a 'Drink Something Funny for Money' no-brainer. So, apart from spreading the great, zesty, fresh flavour of our unique ale to all those up for laugh, it's also a top opportunity to re-claim and promote the name of our great British pub by getting down with some community-driven Red Nose Day fun."
A pump clip showing the pair sporting red noses in a photograph taken by Ian Rankin will be available from February 9. The beer is going into selected Mitchells & Butlers and Spirit Group pubs, and will also be available through Waverley TBS.
