The Ivy Wall in Spalding, Lincolnshire; The Cross Keys in Peterhead, Scotland; The Tumble Inn in Pontypridd, Wales and The Ice Wharf in Derry, Northern Ireland, were named as the individual winners of the award. JDW also won the Corporate Provider national award for the excellence of its toilets nationwide.

Wetherspoon entered 109 of its pubs in the competition, and authorised inspectors made unannounced spot-checks over a three-month period, and gave the pubs a star rating from one (lowest standard) to five stars.

Fifty four of the JDW pubs entered received a five star rating and a further 55 a four star rating.

Awards director Mike Bone said: "All of the inspected toilets are judged against numerous criteria including décor and maintenance, cleanliness, accessibility, hygiene equipment and overall management."

JDW chief executive John Hutson said: "We are delighted - it highlights our commitment to providing quality toilets at all of our pubs."
