Esta chairman Colin McGhee dies
The chairman of the European Satellite Television Association (Esta) has died after being hit by a tube train in London.
A British Transport Police (BTP) spokesman said: "BTP can confirm that the man who died after he was struck by a train at Earl¹s Court Tube station was Colin McGhee, 56, of London.
"The incident occurred around 9.45am on Tuesday 14 October and is not being treated as suspicious."
Esta campaigns for the right to show foreign satellite football in pubs. It represents licensees who use foreign satellite systems to show games, as well as suppliers of the systems.
The phone number at Esta's office in London was not working when the Morning Advertiser tried to call.
Paul Dixon of Molesworth, Bright Clegg, who represents Karen Murphy, the licensee appealing her foreign satellite prosecution in Europe, paid tribute to McGhee.
"Colin McGhee spent many years campaigning tirelessly for licensees and the public at large to have the freedom to subscribe to European satellite television services other than Sky, particularly in order to receive broadcasts of premium sporting events at competitive prices.
"The extent of his work with trade bodies, the media and politicians of all parties should not be underestimated. I understand that he leaves behind a family for whom his sudden and untimely passing is undoubtedly a deep and personal tragedy, and our thoughts are with them."
