Camra rewards Scottish pub
A Scottish pub has received a special plaque from Camra today as a reward for appearing in all 35 Good Beer Guides.
The Fisherman's Tavern in Broughty Ferry is the only Scottish pub — and one of only nine across the UK — to have appeared in every edition of the Guide.
"The Fisherman's Tavern has battled through a lot of adversity over the years, but is still standing as one of Scotland's great pub landmarks," said Camra's Lindsay Grant.
"Its illustrious stint in the Good Beer Guide can only be attributed to the continued quality of the cask-conditioned ale sold over the years, despite several changes of ownership, and its pioneering role as a real ale outlet in an area where it is not commonly served."
Rhys Martinson, manager of the Fisherman's Tavern, added: "The pub has such a fond place in real ale drinker's hearts. Older drinkers will remember the legendary former owners such as Dick Brodie and John Stewart, for others the Belhaven pub is regarded as the primary location for real ale in the Dundee area.
"We are simply over the moon to have featured in the Good Beer Guide 35 years on the trot, and hope this success will continue for generations to come."
