Cains administrators deny drop in production
Pubs selling Cains beers have been told there has been no drop in production at the brewery despite problems with deliveries since the company fell into administration.
Administrator PricewaterhouseCooopers said the Liverpool brewery has been continuing to operate at full capacity since owners the Dusanj brothers were forced to hand it over in August - and will do for the foreseeable future.
However some pubs have been having difficulties getting hold of supplies.
"The pubs which deal directly with Cains brewery shouldn't have a problem," said a PwC spokeswoman.
"There has been a small problem with deliveries through pub companies, but these are being ironed out."
Rita Smith, licensee of Peter Kavanagh's in Toxteth - an Enterprise Inns lease - said the pub had now been without Cains Bitter for three weeks.
"I'm putting on guest beers in its place until the brewery gets sorted out," she said.
"None of my customers have made a fuss about it though so I'm just going with the flow. The customers are a community and they understand if we can't get it."
A spokeswoman for Enterprise Inns said: "Like many customers of Cains we are currently in dialogue with the administrators to determine the future relationship we will have with the Cains business."
Last week the local Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) branch resurrected the Save Cains campaign which ran before the Dusanj brothers took over in 2003.
Speaking at the annual awards night of the Liverpool and District branch of the CAMRA branch chairman Geoff Edwards said the group was committed to campaigning for Cains' survival.
