My pub juke box
Stuart MacFarlane, President of InBev UK, chooses his top-10 tracks
These are the tracks that mean the most to me, from my childhood through to the present day.
1. ECHO BEACH
Martha & The Muffins.
This has always been my favourite song of all time. It has been somewhat spoiled recently by the "tacky" TV soap of the same name, which used their music as its theme tune, but for me this is my favourite song and always gets played the loudest at any of my parties. It reminds me of all the good times.
2. I'M GONNA BE (500 MILES)
The Proclaimers
The Proclaimers are an iconic Scottish band and they're always my first choice at T in the Park. This song was played continually at the Italy vs Scotland game last November 2007 where Scotland should have qualified for Euro 2008. This was the last game of football I went to with my Dad before he died. I will always remember this song for the precious time I had with my father, he was my inspiration.
3. WONDERFUL WORLD
Louis Armstrong
This is a great song from a real legend - and the most frequently played song on my i-Pod.
4. HAPPY HOUR
The Housemartins
This was my university song. I went to see them three times in 1986 and this was the iconic song of the moment. It still makes me want to get up and bounce that silly Paul Heaton dance.
5. BIG RIVER
Jimmy Nail
The Big River is of course the Tyne, and Jimmy Nail is your typical Geordie. I was brought up in Newcastle, and this song reminds me of the "Toon" and going to see the mighty Newcastle United.
6. CLOCKS
Coldplay
This is a well written and beautifully performed song. I remember it being played at the Brits one year and thinking that it would be a huge classic for years to come. I still think it will.
7. BRIGHT SIDE OF THE ROAD
Van Morrison
This song makes me bounce out of bed in the morning. I play this on my way into work when I have a tough day ahead of me - it helps me get into a positive mood. It's also my preferred conference music.
8. BACK FOR GOOD
Take That
I can't believe I have Take That in here. This is my song for me and Mrs Mac. Gary and friends were no.1 at the time. A timeless classic for me.
9. ELVIS AIN'T DEAD
Scouting for Girls
This is my band and song of the moment. I love their upbeat tunes and I plan to see them at T in the Park this year. Good Time Music.
10. TIN SOLDIERS
Stiff Little Fingers
I was a punk when I was growing up and the Fingers were my favourite band. This is my favourite Stiff Little Fingers track, which became even more relevant when I moved to Ireland and understood the story behind the song.
