MA100 line-up revealed
Next event will be on 23 and 24 June
The list of speakers for the next seminar for members of MA100, the club for multiple independent retailers, has been unveiled.
The next event, to be held at Celtic Manor — the venue for a forthcoming Ryder Cup — on 23 and 24 June, will see three company chiefs talking about their businesses: Hamish Stoddart of Peach Pub Company, Tony Brookes of Head of Steam and Nick Griffin of Pleisure.
Rufus Hall, chief executive of Orchid Group, will be telling members about the gaps in the market it has sought to exploit with innovations like its upmarket carvery offer.
Peter Linacre, of Glasshouse, will be giving a presentation on the "good, the bad, the ugly and the really ugly — a recent year in the pub trade".
Morning Advertiser legal editor Peter Coulson will be talking about 10 legal traps for the unwary multiple pub operator. Peter Hansen, partner at Sapient Corporate Finance, is presenting on how pub businesses are valued. Punch director of corporate services Chris Moore will be talking to members about the opportunities for multiples to work with the company. Scottish & Newcastle trading director Les Murphy is providing insights on how to maximise beer sales by category. Charles Wells marketing director Chris Lewis will be presenting fresh company research on how retailers can unlock the potential of cask ale.
The seminar, which is free, will be followed by a trip to Chepstow races. Those staying overnight will get the chance to play golf the following morning. MA editor Andrew Pring said: "The MA100 seminar next month has a first-class line-up of speakers with content tailored for the membership, who run some of the UK's most innovative and dynamic managed companies."
