Premium Bars lands new finance director

Premium Bars & Restaurants (PBR) has announced the appointment of Wayne Anthony Arthur as group finance director.

Arthur, who will also be a member of the operator's board, will join after serving his notice period at Barracuda Group, where he is head of finance.

He has 15 years' experience in the leisure sector and has previously held senior finance roles at Whitbread and the Laurel Pub Company. Craig Bell, the current group finance director at PBR, recently announced he was to leave the company.

Bell has agreed to conduct a hand over to his successor and will continue with the business for the next few months.

Mark Jones, executive chairman, said: "I am delighted that Wayne has agreed to join us and look forward to welcoming him to the company. He has considerable experience of the leisure sector, which will be invaluable as PBR continues to grow."

Lucy joins Christie's corporate pubs team

Christie+Co has appointed Robert Lucy to its corporate pubs and restaurant team. He joins the company after working for five years overseeing acquisitions at a national specialist firm of licensed-property surveyors based in London.

He also spent five years as acquisitions manager at Mitchells & Butlers (M&B) and facilitated the expansion of a number of its well-known brands, including All Bar One and Harvester. Before joining M&B, Lucy spent 13 years working in the business-property market for a number of national specialist firms.

The announcement follows the key appointments of Stephen Owens and Martin Stansmore to Christie+Co's northern corporate pubs team, as head of rent reviews and negotiator respectively, in February.

Neil Morgan, director and head of pubs at Christie+Co, said: "Robert Lucy has vast experience in acquisitions and I am confident he will prove to be a huge asset to Christie+Co."

Dynamic duo take on Bamburgh Castle Inn

Scottish couple Sam Robinson and Julia Baker have traded the Cairngorms for Northumberland, to become the new managers of the Bamburgh Castle Inn in Seahouses.

Robinson, who has netted AA awards for culinary excellence at venues in London, Stratford and Gloucestershire, will be executive chef at the harbour-front site. Baker will look after front of house and the site's 30 letting bedrooms.

The pair, who have over 50 years of collective hospitality experience, will manage the inn, which boasts a pavilion-style coffee house, bar area and carvery. Robinson said: "We are delighted to be taking on the running of the Bamburgh Castle Inn. We'll be working with the owners, Lindisfarne Inns, to ensure the site is successful and enjoyed by local people and holiday makers alike as somewhere to go for good, home-cooked food and a destination that's high quality, but without pomp and ceremony."

Lindisfarne Inns managing director Keith Liddell said: "The appointment of Sam and Julia as managers marks a milestone for the venue as we get set up to open next month following the successful completion of the regeneration's first phase."
