Marston's maidens move up the order
Marston's, the official beer of the England cricket team, has recruited what the tabloids call "a bevy of beauties" to talk to cricketing fans about the company's flagship brews, Marston's Pedigree and Smooth, in cricket grounds around the UK.
The talented Marston's Maidens were selected at an audition and trained at Marston's Brewery last month to ensure they were up to speed with Marston's cricketing portfolio.
Training included a brewery tour, tutored tasting of the beers and practice pulling pints behind the bar in the visitors centre — followed by a cricket lesson from Matthew Hoggard on the nearby Marston's cricket pitch in Burton.
The Maidens took their first outing at Lord's this week at the first Test against New Zealand.
Armed with cameras they offered cricketing fans the chance to have 15 seconds of fame and pose for a shot that will appear on the Marston's Cricket Club site —www.marstonscricketclub.co.uk.
Marston's marketing director Peter Jackson said: "The Maidens will certainly create a buzz in grounds and draw attention to Marston's brands this summer."
