Two for One launches create-your-own-steak offer
Two for One — Spirit's value food offer — is launching a create-your-own-steak meal across its 130 sites.
The new offer will be launched on 20 May. Customers can choose from an 8oz rump, 8oz sirloin, 10oz rib-eye or 16oz rump served with chips, peas and grilled tomato. For an extra £2 they can choose from four toppings: the Sunnyside — two fried eggs, sautéed mushrooms, onion rings and baked beans; steak 'n' sauce — sautéed mushrooms and a choice of Diane, Stilton & peppercorn or creamy mustard sauce; surf 'n' turf — a portion of scampi and tartare sauce; and the Rodeo — a choice of bourbon, chilli and garlic or HP Steak sauce glaze.
All steaks and extras are part of the "order two main meals and get the cheapest free" offer at the heart of the brand.
Claire Twaites, Spirit's value food offer manager, says the £2 toppings offer has the potential to generate between £1.5m and £2m in extra sales.
The steaks are 28-day matured and make up a large part of the brand's overall sales mix, with an average Two for One selling 300 steaks a week.
The new menu also features a heart symbol to highlight healthier options. Other new dishes include a Two for One combo pie, with a beef and mushroom filling in one half and chicken and ham in the other (£8.95).
The company also plans to extend the number of its Two For One Pubs from six to 15 pubs by the end of the year.
The sites are smaller than the average Two For One site, with more space given over to drinkers and with a food mix of around 25%. The sites are being given a new contemporary design.
