Pub People recruits Twells as BDM
Pub People has recruited Bill Twells as business development manager (BDM). Twells, who has worked in the licensed trade for 25 years, joins the firm from beer-monitoring company Nucleus Data, where he was field support manager. Prior to that he worked as a BDM for pubcos including Punch, InnSpired and Marston's.
His new role at Pub People will include identifying suitable public houses to add to the company's 70 pubs, and recruiting new and experienced licensees.
Twells said: "I am looking forward to responding to the needs of customers in developing Pub People's portfolio of pubs and hosts."
High-street expert joins Bar Sport
Entrepreneur and ex-managing director of First Choice Retail, John Donnelly, has been appointed non-executive chairman of Bar Sport. Donnelly's appointment to the board comes at a time when the group is set to embark on further expansion, following the recent opening of its fifth site, in Loughborough.
Donnelly's experience includes growing the Holiday Hypermarket from a concept, and he was also instrumental in putting the Virgin Travel brand on the high street.
Bar Sport founder and managing director Scott Murray, said: "John will play a key role in driving our future development. We have identified over 30 key parts of the UK that would suit our operation and plan to open at least six new major sites in the next three years. We also plan to roll out on a much larger scale, including the franchising of Bar Sport in the summer."
Coca-Cola welcomes Chisholm in new role
Coca-Cola Enterprises (CCE) has announced the appointment of Kenny Chisholm to the role of trade communications manager. Chisholm was previously shopper marketing manager at the company. He will work across all business channels — off-trade, licensed and cold channel — and manage CCE's trade press, PR, awards, events, partnerships and sponsorships. Chisholm replaces Pete Johnson, who is still marketing manager for the licensed area.
A spokesperson for CCE said: "Chisholm will have responsibility for negotiating initiatives and supporting the pub trade as much as possible."
Trio of Knight Frank appointments
The international property consultancy, Knight Frank, has strengthened its hotel and leisure team with three new appointments, based in London.
Dirk Holtgreve joins the company from Investment Property Databank, where he managed the international portfolio analysis services.
He has been appointed to Knight Franks as a senior analyst, concentrating on structuring and diversifying the UK and international hotels and leisure market research.
Mathias Malzbender has joined from the market research and valuations department of the MKG Group and will focus on international markets as a surveyor.
Sophie-Jane Williams has joined the company's hotel team as a surveyor. She joins from CB Richard Ellis's Global Corporate Services.
