Marston's manager multi-tasks
Mike Haw, area manager at Marston's, has been appointed chief executive officer of the licensed trade information website www.mypublife.com
This innovative site, welcomed by the industry, aims to give interested parties all the information they need to take their first leap into the licensed trade. The initiative collected the Web Award at the 2007 Springboard Awards for Excellence.
The mypublife.com team is formed of seven of the trade's most influential companies: Marston's, Charles Wells, Enterprise Inns, Greene King, Fleurets, Punch and Scottish & Newcastle Pub Enterprises.
New horizons for Stableforth
With several years' experience in the UK and France in catering and management at well-known establishments such as Bath's Limpley Stoke Hotel and Normandy's Hotel du Baffy behind him, John Stableforth has set up oozo, a consultancy and management holding business.
The new company aims to pursue excellence by guiding customers step-by-step in a down-to-earth way. Services include staff recruitment, training and outlet finding. Oozo has started work with firms such as Punch, Enterprise and Amps Fine Wines.
Culverhouse joins Cookseys DMP
Steve Culverhouse has joined Cookseys DMP as agency director, with a brief to expand the business and become more evident in the agency sector.
Culverhouse worked as an operator in Devon for 30 years, running freehold sites. He trained as a property agent with south-west-based Bettesworths before becoming a freelance acquisition broker advising major pubcos and individuals on new sites. Based in Somerset, Culverhouse will handle deals south of Birmingham for Cookseys DMP. The chartered surveyors specialises in all aspects of licensed and leisure property, operating from offices in Bristol, Reading, London and Cardiff.
Fleurets boss heads restaurant property advisors' group
Richard Negus, director and head of restaurants at chartered surveyors Fleurets, has been elected chairman of the Restaurant Property Advisors Society, an organisation comprising 94 agents and valuers dealing in restaurant property.
Negus has some 17 years' experience in leisure property. Prior to joining Fleurets, he worked for four years as head of property at Greene King, where he was responsible for all property matters relating to the managed side of the company, comprising about 600 UK pubs, restaurants and hotels.
Golfing Green goes to Tom Wood's
Tom Wood's Beers has appointed Peter Green, formerly of Everards, as national accounts manager.
Green started his career with Scottish & Newcastle (S&N) as a sales rep, and overall sales training manager. After 10 years at S&N he joined Everards as freetrade manager and went on to take over Everards newly-created national accounts department.
Leaving Everards last March after 17 years, Green spent a year out playing golf. Green has joined North Lincolnshire-based Highwood Brewery on a part-time basis. Highwood consists of a microbrewery, a distribution business and an 11-pub estate.
