Shepherd Neame, the Kent brewer, has announced that Tom Falcon will replace head of production Ian Dixon upon his retirement in July.

Falcon, who will become production and distribution director at the brewer, is currently director of strategy and process excellence at Danish transport and logistics giant Maersk.

Dixon, who has more than three decades of experience in the brewing industry, joined Shepherd Neame in 1991 and was appointed to the board in March 2000.

He was previously group production director of Courage Breweries and was responsible for the development of the Berkshire Brewery, then the largest in the UK.

Falcon, 38, joins the brewer on June 2 and will replace Dixon on the group's board upon his retirement in July.

Prior to working at Maersk, Falcon worked at management consultants AT Kearney, whose specialisms include supply chain management.

Shepherd Neame chairman Miles Templeman said Falcon's appointment would be a "significant benefit" in supporting the growth and development of the business.
