How will a ban on selling cigarettes affect you?

Jessica Luke Brewery Tap Peterborough Cambridgshire

I don't see it as much of a problem. I wouldn't miss the revenue too badly and I think my customers would just remember to buy their cigarettes before coming to the pub after a while. It would not inconvenience them much as they can't smoke on the premises anyway. Seems to be the way things are going these days. It's certainly a positive in health terms.

Steve Haslam The Cutter Inn Ely Cambridgeshire

It's just another blow for the trade so soon after the Budget. It's not that massive an income stream for pubs, but if the Government keeps chipping away we're going to end up with nothing left. Pubs are being penalised for the underage sale of cigarettes in a closely-monitored environment - it's just the same as alcohol. We're the responsible ones.

Nick Green The Stansfield Arms Apperley Bridge Yorkshire

It would not bother me at all, my pubs are food-led so we don't get a lot of smokers in. We've seen a massive drop in cigarette-machine sales since the smoking ban - the income we'd lose would be insignificant. One of my other pubs does not even have a cigarette machine any more, as there is no demand at all. I see it as a progressive move.

Dave Parker Shoulder of Mutton Castleford Yorkshire

Not an issue for me because I sold mine after the ban - what's the point in selling something that my customers can't use? Nobody really used it anyway because it was so expensive - just a big metal lump bolted to the wall. I suppose it will be yet another blow for some people, though. This trade is constantly getting hit by legislation, I can't see where it's going to end.
