Publican Live: That's show business
Each year, for the past 11 years, The Publican has organised a live show at which readers can touch and taste the products and and talk to the people we feature week-by-week in the magazine and minute-by-minute on thepublican.com.
Why do we expect busy licensees to abandon their pubs for a few hours and pay us a visit? Because we really believe it's good for your business.
For one thing there is value in stepping outside and giving yourself a bit of time to reflect on how your pub is doing and how you need to develop it - or working on the business rather than working in the business.
And Publican Live, which runs for three days at the beginning of next month, is a brilliant environment in which to do that. There are all the exhibitors you'd expect at a major trade show, of course. As well as an opportunity to browse the products and services, it's a terrific chance to actually speak to the people behind them and find out whether your business can benefit.
But there's more to Publican Live than that. It's a genuinely interactive show in that you can, for instance, watch top chefs in action and then taste their food and speak to them afterwards. You can learn the differences between wines by tasting them with an expert. You can find out how to match food and drink and see for yourself what works.
With all the challenges facing pubs, you can go along to a seminar or two, have your questions answered and debate the best strategies for your business. For the first time The Publican's Sell More, Save More project is being brought to life for everyone to share in the ideas and best practice that can mean your pub succeeds where others fail.
Even if you can only spare a couple of hours at Publican Live it's sure to be profitable time, giving you an insight into new products and services, and fresh inspiration that you can take back into your business and really make a difference.
