ALMR launches annual operations managers' awards

The Association of Licensed Multiple Retailers (ALMR) is inviting entries to its annual Operations Managers Awards.

This year's event is being supported by a number of leading operators and suppliers who have come together to form the Operations Managers Guild, said ALMR chief executive Nick Bish.

These parties would be "adding their influence and resources to ensure that operations managers are recognised and developed throughout our industry and throughout the year", he said.

In the current climate Bish said the need for "knowledgeable, resourceful and entrepreneurial people to provide the link between the licensee and HQ has never been more vital".

As before, the 2008 Operations Managers Awards will be split into two sections: Area Managers (AM) for managed houses and Business Development Managers (BDM) for tenanted and leased businesses.

The awards' entry paper is challenging, noted Bish, "but it should appeal to people with a winning attitude who know it's the first step to professional recognition and first class development alongside industry peers".

The "rigorous" four-day process for finalists is "very, very worthwhile", Bish continued.

"Not just for the winners, but for everyone who takes part and of course for their companies which get to benchmark their people against the best of the rest of the industry."

The winners will be announced at the ALMR's autumn event held at the Royal Armouries in Leeds on September 25 2008.
