S&N unveils two new over-ice cider brands
Scottish and Newcastle UK (S&N UK) is set to launch two new variants of existing 'over-ice' cider brands - Bulmers and Jacques - to strengthen its portfolio of premium ciders.
Designed to be served over ice, Bulmers Light has an ABV of 4.5 per cent but with 30 per cent fewer calories than its parent brand. The launch of Bulmers Light is part of a £20m investment behind the Bulmers brand in 2008.
Jacques Orchard Fruits, a lightly sparkling cider with an ABV of 5.5 per cent and will be launched in two bottle sizes to provide consumers with even greater choice. The 750ml bottle is ideal for mixed or female groups to share, while the smaller 250ml bottle serving is aimed at women who want to enjoy the drink in mixed company.
Both brands will be supported by a heavyweight investment programme that will include advertising, PR, consumer sampling and point of sale merchandising.
Graeme McKenzie, consumer marketing manager, S&N UK, said: "The launch of Bulmers Light and Jacques Orchard Fruits underlines our continued commitment to the over-ice category and aims to attract new drinkers to cider.
"Our research indicates that Bulmers Light appeals to a growing number of males and females who are becoming increasingly conscious of the role that alcohol can play in a healthy lifestyle.
"Jacques Orchard Fruits also builds on the growing trend for cider-over-ice and is designed to appeal to young professional (25 to 34) females who prefer products that offer a stylish, more refreshing alternative to wine."
Both products will be available from the end of March.
