Pubs in Wales are being urged to ditch rock and pop for more traditional Welsh sounds of the harp and choir.

Brecon Beacons National Park Authority has teamed up with Medwrn and Tourism Partnership Mid Wales to offer a free course to pubs on selecting Welsh music to play.

It is believed to be the first course of its kind and the day, Thursday 17 February, will be led by renowned Welsh folk musician Ceri Rhys Matthews.

The famous flutist, piper and guitarist has designed the course to give an an informal introduction to Welsh music - both traditional and contemporary.

"With local food firmly in place on Welsh menus our attentions are now turning to Welsh music that's available to tourism businesses," said tourism growth officer Carol Williams.

"This is a unique Welsh course designed to help businesses identify music that promotes their individuality and cultural heritage."
