Dual drama at Theatre of Dreams
Sir Alex Ferguson's plan is finally kicking into action. Manchester United are inching ahead of Arsenal at the top of the Premier League table. They are level on points but ahead by virtue of goal difference, due in no small part to their recent six-goal tally against Newcastle.
They are also making solid progress in the FA Cup and have to win a clash against Spurs at Old Trafford on Sunday to make sure their name is in the mix for the fifth-round draw on Monday.
United were runners-up last year and have beaten Spurs on the last four occasions that the two teams have met. However, Spurs have a historical advantage in this competition, with better results in their Cup meetings with United.
New manager Juande Ramos has a sound record in the Spanish domestic competition, having won last season's cup with former club Sevilla. See how he fares against Sir Alex at 1.40pm on Sunday. Coverage is on BBC1.
And there's no rest for the wicked as the Red Devils return to action in the Premier League for their home fixture against Portsmouth next Wednesday. Harry Redknapp turned down the offer of a new job as Newcastle manager, insisting that he is content to stay at Pompey.
It'll be interesting to see how happy he is after this clash on Wednesday. Action is on SS2 from 7pm.
Other FA Cup action sees Chelsea paying a visit to the JJB Stadium on Saturday. It's the first time Wigan Athletic have featured in a live game on terrestrial TV and Steve Bruce will hope that his side can put on an inspired show at home to the current title holders. Tune in to BBC1 at 5.05pm.
In the Premier League Sunderland host Birmingham City on Tuesday (SS2, 7.30pm). The two sides met at St Andrew's way back at the start of the season, when the match finished 2-2. Who will get the edge (and the points) this time around?
