Everards' Bremner excited by new challenges
Everards commercial operations director David Bremner has revealed that his departure from the Leicestershire brewer, announced earlier today, has been on the cards for a year.
"Stephen [Gould, the group's managing director] has known for ages that I've done enough here and that I wanted make a big move," he told thepublican.com.
Bremner said his new role at Blackburn-based Michael Davies Associates, would enable him to work on a range of clients looking for creative marketing strategies, he said.
"They've got clients such as Coke, Pernod-Ricard, WKD, Sky and Cadburys," Bremner said. "The job will revolve around coming up with creative ideas and delivering them. It's below-the-line marketing stuff," he added.
MDA also numbers Marston's among its client base, which Bremner said meant he would remain in touch with the brewing industry.
Bremner, who is 37, was the architect of the 'Cyclops' beer tasting system that has been taken up by more than 50 UK brewers, as well as working on marketing Everards' beer brands and raising the profile of the group.
"I'm proud of being able to have helped clear up the clutter of beer tasting [via 'Cyclops'] and create an industry standard, while the work we've done on the pub company has helped attract better quality licensees to the business," he said.
"The MDA job is a board position and ticks my boxes with regards to what I want to do. I'll be P&L accountable," he added.
Everards is to announce separately a replacement for Bremner.
