MA award winner buys Dorset inn
MA Pub of the Year winner David Sax has secured his second pub in Dorset.
Sax has bought former English Inn of the Year the Museum Inn in Farnham, Dorset. Sax has been on the look-out for his second site since transforming the Cow pub in Parkstone, Dorset, from a run-down Eldridge Pope boozer taking just £75,000 a year to one with a turnover in excess of £1m within four years.
"The Museum Inn gets very good press and has great prospects," said Sax. "It has a very good food and wine offering."
The freehold comprises a bar with a conservatory, a separate restaurant named the Shed headed by the Michelin-trained chef Matthew Davey and eight en-suite bedrooms.
"We plan to refurbish the rooms to make them a little bit more sexy and are looking into getting sponsors involved such as the Ringwood 49er."
The Museum currently has a turnover of £1.2m and will be run under the Roger Inns banner, which incorporates the Cow.
"I am delighted to get hold of the Museum," said Sax. "It's been a long search, but we have got a great venue."
