What's your verdict on Gordon Brown so far?

He's doing an average job. He's trying his hardest to be liked by the nation, but it's been very hard for him because of the situation with the economy at the moment. I've noticed that people's disposable income has dropped. The average punter can't go out. He needs to look at what he's doing with the interest rates because we don't want to go back to the situation we had in the 1970s.

Britain needs a change. I don't think he's good enough to be leader of this country - he lacks ideas, he lacks Britishness. He'll pass on the responsibilities and let Europe make our decisions for us. I think David Cameron will keep us British - Conservatives are more pro-Brit than Labour. Give the Tories another go; they were in for a long time and we were due for a change over, but now it's time to bring them back.

I've got mixed opinions. I wish he was still chancellor because he did a fairly good job in that role and Alistair Darling has been an absolute disaster. At the moment I see Gordon Brown as Labour's John Major - he took over mid-term from a long established prime minister with a vision and a habit of sailing on through despite of everything. A new person comes in and they're accident prone.

I think his puritanical views are probably going to sound the death knell for the UK pub trade. He's talking about reviewing the licensing laws and he's not doing anything about rolling back all the regulations that we have to deal with. Gordon Brown and the Labour government are doing nothing to help small businesses and seem to be doing everything they can to get rid of pubs.
