Jennings biggest liar winner crowned
John Graham scooped the award for top liar at Jennings World's Biggest Liar competition.
Graham, a local competitor from Silloth, beat off strong competition with his story about a nine foot cod held at The Bridge Inn pub, Santon Bridge in Cumbria.
It was his sixth career win in the tournament.
Judges decided there was something fishy about Graham's tale of a giant cod which he eventually caught after it was hit over the head with a barrel of Jennings.
He said: "I am thrilled to win the contest. I don't like to think of myself as a liar just a good story teller. All my stories are based on the truth - even this one."
Jennings brand manager Gaynor Green said: "It's been another great contest. Johnny had us on the edge of our seats. He really knows how to entertain the crowd."
To celebrate this year's contest, Jennings launched the World's Biggest Liar beer (4.3%ABV) - a dark golden brown bitter with a chocolate, toffee and roasted malt aroma.
The annual event is held in memory of Will Ritson - a local landlord who would often elaborate on the truth to keep 18th-century drinkers entertained.
