Marston's Pub Company has created two new positions within its marketing and development team.

Peter Crabbe, who has worked in the industry for more than 15 years including senior operational positions at Tom Cobleigh Taverns and Whitbread, has been appointed head of retail.

"My priorities are to further develop our catering strategy, identify new opportunities and ensure that there is a consistent level of quality and service throughout our estate," said Crabbe.

"This is an exciting and challenging opportunity, which will give me the chance to draw on the knowledge and expertise of our licensees and use my own operational background to drive the overall food offer and help pubs build a sustainable retail offer."

Dave Percival joins the retail team as category manager for drinks and machines, having spent over two and a half years working for Marston's Beer Company as channel marketing manager.

He has worked in the drinks sector for more than 15 years and held positions with Carlsberg and Scottish and Newcastle.

"My aim will be to provide licensees with the right range of brands at the right price with appropriate on-going marketing support to help them compete and maximise their profits," said Percival.

Andrew Cooney, marketing and development director at Marston's, said: "We are committed to improving the support we give our retail customers - helping them to develop their own offers in this changing environment.

"Peter and Dave's appointments will be strategic in helping us to achieve this goal."
