Michael Jackson remembered at White Horse
The White Horse in Parsons Green, London, is honouring former patron Michael Jackson this Sunday (30 September) by inviting his friends, family and a number of industry colleagues to the pub to share a selection of his favourite beers and to enjoy a jazz band, whilst raising vital funds for charity.
Following the sad news of Michael's death at the end of August, his family called upon members of the pub and brewing industry across the world to raise a collective toast to the 'Beer Hunter,' as he was affectionately known, at 9pm on Sunday 30 September 2007.
The team at the White Horse, where Michael was friends with former longstanding manager Mark Dorber, as well as the current management duo of Sonia Harris and Dan Fox, have decided to host a full day event in honour of the pub's former patron, who had also become good friends with many of the staff.
Sonia Harris of the White Horse, said: "All of the team here knew Michael well and we always looked forward to those days when he'd pop in to see us for a drink. He was a patron of the pub for many years and was always very supportive of us, so we really wanted to recognise his family's wishes by hosting this event as a tribute to him."
This Sunday will see members of Michael's family, his friends and a number of industry colleagues enjoying a jazz band and some of his favourite beers, whilst contributions to the Parkinson's Association charity will be invited on the day and donated in his memory.
Dan Fox, also of the White Horse, added: "We all know how passionate Michael was about quality ale. His relationship with the pub started when the previous manager, Mark Dorber, was running the pub, and continued with Sonia and me, so we feel this is a fitting way to commemorate Michael and raise funds for his chosen charity."
