TCG launches Oasis concept
Tattershall Castle Group (TCG), the managed pub operator owned by Alchemy Partners, the private equity firm, has launched a new concept called Oasis under the banner "classic pubs with a twist".
David Ford, chief executive of TCG, told M&C Report that the new concept is aimed at 25 to 35-year-olds who are "looking for a refuge from the more frantic late-night town centre circuit".
The company, which currently operates around 150 pubs, converted its Assembly pub in Barnsley to the new concept and re-opened it under its original name - the White Bear last week.
It plans to start converting its Hop Poles site in Hammersmith to the concept over the next six to eight weeks, while it expects to bring a third Oasis pub on line by the end of the year.
The group plans to rollout the concept to around 15 sites over the next 12 to 24 months, with an average spend per conversion expected to be between £350,000 and £400,000.
Ford, who replaced Peter Brook at TCG last August, said: "We want to get back to the historical pedigree of each pub, and its original name. We want the concept to be classic but not boring.
"It is aimed at people who maybe want to take a break from shopping or want to go somewhere after work to talk. The pubs under the concept will have a more relaxed style of lighting and music to allow consumers to do just that.
"They will offer good value premium brands, regular guest products, hearty traditional food and a local style of service.
"Rather than concentrate on the Friday and Saturday night town centre trade, we want a concept that can attract customers all week and all day."
Ford also said that the company had converted its Standard site in Brighton into a late-night bar and nightclub called Kulture.
