Herald's Allcock joins Ultimate
Kevin Allcock has quit Herald Bars and Inns, the owner of Moods and Brannigans, to join nightclub company Ultimate Leisure as managing director of operations, the Morning Advertiser has learnt.
The departure of Allcock from Herald Bar and Inns means the company has lost two managing directors in eight months - Mike Clayton left at the start of the year.
Alcock worked with Ultimate boss Mark Jones at Yates Group and has also worked at at Whitbread and JD Wetherspoon.
As part of the re-organisation.
Chris Blacklock has left Ultimate. Jones said: "I would like to thank Chris for his role he has played over the last two years and wish him luck in the future. I am delighted that Kevin has chosen to join ULG as we enter a very important phase for our business.
"He will assume full operational control of the Ultimate Leisure businesses (not including the Living Room Group and
Bel and the Dragon).
"He will also assume a wider responsibility for brand development of Blu Bambu, Sea and Chase."
The departure of Allcock from Herald, which has made heavy losses for a number of years, has been the source of industry rumour for a number of weeks.
His time at Herald has seen investment in the Mood chain and the opening of a new River Carvery concept at Broxbourne. Allcock's period at Herald was a little turbulent with the departure of Mike Ashton as operations director after only 11 weeks in the business. Herald tried to sell its Brannigans business last year through agent Christie and Co but was unable to find a buyer - one industry source claimed the business lacked smoking solutions at a number of sites.
This year, has seen the closure of a small number of Brannigans venues.
