A Milton Keynes pub has beaten more than 300 others to win the 'Pub of the Year' award from the Milton Keynes and North Bucks branch of the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA).

Country pub the Robin Hood, in Clifton Reynes, won the award for selling real ale at a high standard, and being in the CAMRA annual good beer guide for eight consecutive years.

It also scored highly on service, clientele mix, style and décor, and value for money.

Licensees Reg and Lynn Pearson said they were happy their pub had been recognised.

Reg Pearson said: "We are over the moon to have won this prestigious award for our region - CAMRA 'Pub of the Year' is the highest accolade we could have hoped for.

"We keep two ales here on tap, Greene King's IPA and Abbot Ale, both of which the customers love and return for again and again. It proves that you don't have to have a huge range of products but rather keep the ones you have in tip-top condition."

The award was presented at the local CAMRA branch.

Chris Scoggins, chairman of the Milton Keynes and Buckinghamshire branch of CAMRA, said: "For me, the Robin Hood is a wonderful village pub for everyone - the food, service and Abbot Ale are high class.

"Reg is an excellent landlord and deserves his success - I'm sure he still hasn't come down from the delight he showed when I broke the news to him!"
