June has been a terrible month for British sport, weather-wise. Countless cricket matches have fallen victim to the torrential rain that has swept across the country, and the race courses have taken a rather soggy pounding of late.

A glance at the weather forecast for July suggests we could be in for a repeat over the coming weeks, so one can only hope that the big crowd-pulling events grab breaks in the rain.

Paul Collingwood's education as England's one-day cricket captain continues on Saturday at Trent Bridge, with the third of three 50-over games against the West Indies. The Durham man's team bounced back quickly from their 15-run defeat in the first Twenty20 International. They drew that series and knocked over their opponents cheaply in the first of the three 50-over matches.

A win on Saturday will be great preparation for the England boys ahead of their Test and one-day series against the touring Indian side. The Indians are likely to put up a much stronger challenge to England than their departing visitors. There's full coverage of the England-West Indies match on SS1 from 10.30am on Saturday.

Weather permitting, the men's and women's Wimble-don singles are scheduled for the weekend. A win for de-fending men's champ Roger Federer will equal Bjorn Borg's five successes, just behind Pete Sampras' record seven titles.

Tune into BBC1 for full coverage. The women's final is on Saturday and the men's on Sunday. Coverage begins at 1.30pm on both days.

Night owls and late-licensees can catch international football from the Copa America on Thursday, Satur-day, Sunday and Wednesday. See SS1 and SS2 for live coverage.

Finally, don't miss Lewis Hamilton's tilt at the British Grand Prix title on Sunday (ITV1 from 12noon).
