How would your business cope if there was a national postal strike?

Fiona Hornsby Thomas Rigby's, Liverpool

First of all there would be less junk mail to worry about - or possibly even no junk mail at all!

But seriously, it would cause major problems because we wouldn't receive our invoices and it would affect our accounts.

The big firms would probably find a way round it with courier services, but the small firms would be really hit.

Internet emailing and faxes will help, but not every pub is geared up for this kind of communication.

I hope that it would not worry us too much. As far as our bills are concerned, most of our regular accounts are paid via direct debit so there would be no problems there.

However I do not use a computer in the business and we do not have a fax, so life could be very quiet for us.

I think most people would be able to find a way round things, but contact might not be so immediate.

David Heyes The Garsdale Inn, Brandlesholme, Bury, Lancashire

Quite honestly I do not think it would cause us too many problems or create that much inconvenience.

Emails, faxes, direct debits and couriers should be able to surmount any problems that emerged.

I have just gone through this morning's mail: 70% of it consisted of promotional stuff and flyers, so a national postal strike might save me 10 minutes every day wading through that!

Sue Williams The Greyhound, Hinckley, Leicestershire

A strike would not hit us really, as we tend to deal with cash and direct-debit transactions for most things.

I'm not sure what is going on at the moment but everything seems to be changing in the Royal Mail.

If this strike can help to stop sub- post offices closing down, then I would say that I have sympathy with the postal workers.
