Prepare for a brace of cup finals
Coming up over the next seven days there are two football finals to look out for.
On Saturday it's time once again for the FA Cup final. For the first time in seven years the competition returns to its spiritual home, Wembley. Since 2000 the stadium has undergone an £800m transformation, and despite the astonishing cost and the delays that have occurred, it appears that all the efforts have been worthwhile and that the new stadium is truly sensational.
And playing at the new ground should provide the spur to ensure the match is one to remember. At the end of a season that has had its share of disappointment and triumph for both teams, Man U and Chelsea will tangle one last time before the summer break.
Having seen off Chelsea and won the Premiership, Man U will be aiming to complete a league and cup double, while for the Blues the FA Cup final is an opportunity to get one over their rivals and make it a double cup-winning season. Blues manager Jose Mourinho has taken a lot of stick of late, with only the Carling Cup to show for it so far.
With the league season over, let's hope any pressure on that front has been released and that the quality of the players shines through on a memorable afternoon. The match, on BBC1 and SS1, kicks off at 3.00pm.
Moving on to next week and Liverpool are flying the Prem-iership flag in Europe with a repeat appearance in the Champions League final.
Following their 2005 triumph in Istanbul, this time the Reds will meet opponents AC Milan in Athens. The Italian side will have revenge in mind, having surrendered a 3-0 half-time lead over Liverpool two years ago, eventually losing on penalties.
This year, Milan successfully defended a 3-0 lead in their semi-final second-leg match against Man U. Picking up two Red Premiership scalps to become European Champions would be a fine route to glory. ITV1 and SS1 will show Wednesday's match, which kicks off at 7.45pm.
