A pub has installed a webcam in its kitchen so punters can have a pint at the bar while keeping a close eye on the progress of their meals.

The hi-tech cam has been introduced by licensee Paul Freeman and his wife, Charlotte at the Shannon Inn in Bucklesham, Suffolk, so customers can watch exactly how their food is prepared.

It's a bit of a unique idea and we wanted to show our customers that we have nothing to hide.Paul Freeman.

The exploits of the kitchen staff are now relayed to three TV screens for all to see - one at the entrance of the pub, one in the bar area and another in the restaurant - as well as on the inn's website.

Paul, who has been running the Shannon with his wife for two years, said: "We originally wanted to make an open kitchen but we weren't able to create a hole big enough so we decided to install the webcam.

"It's a bit of a unique idea and we wanted to show our customers that we have nothing to hide.

"Trade has moved forward and everyone who visits thinks it's a good idea."
