BII lunch raises £8k for pub charity
More than £8,656 was raised for the Licensed Trade Charity (LTC) at the BII's 26th Annual Luncheon yesterday.

More than £8,656 was raised for the Licensed Trade Charity (LTC) at the BII's 26th Annual Luncheon yesterday.

Liz Gaffer, director of marketing & charity services said: "The amount raised was fantastic. We'd like to thank everyone who contributed to the raffle and to the BII for supporting us and choosing the LTC as their nominated charity for this event."

Everyday we provide support to someone who is either still working or retired from this industry. Liz Gaffer LTC's Liz Gaffer

Prizes were generously donated by Sky, Fuller Smith & Turner, Marston's, St Austell Brewery, Wadworth, Brulines, Charles Wells Pub Company and the 2006 BII Licensees of the Year - Richard Macey, FBII and Jacque Macey, MBII from the Fountain at Clent.

Gaffer added: "Everyday we provide support to someone who is either still working or retired from this industry. We assist them in a variety of ways from providing regular financial assistance to awarding one-off grants to help pay for a range of unaffordable, but urgently needed items that make a real difference to someone's life.

"Each month our one-off grants alone are on average £13,000, and the money raised at the BII event will certainly help.

"Whilst holding raffles is a great way to raise money, we are dependent on support throughout the year.

"Many of the people that contacted us have dedicated their life to this industry - all we ask is that their colleagues in the industry, whatever area of the sector you work in, return this dedication and help support those who are facing a challenging time in their life."
