Young's top retail managers rewarded
Neil and Maria Dunning of the Duke on the Green in Fulham, west London, were crowned Retail Managers of the Year at the Young's awards.
The couple, who have been at the venue for 12 years, also scooped the website marketing award.
The Dunnings are reaping the rewards of their refurbishment 18 months ago, which has helped to increase weekly takings from £23,000 to £35,000 and smash their profit forecast by 30%.
They also carry out induction training for new Young's managers.
"It is a great lift for everyone here," said Neil. "I think our extra touches helped us get these awards - for example, we offer full table service for all customers who are drinking or eating. That means they can just sit and relax."
The couple have built up the largest customer database in the Young's estate, with 4,500 registered and 1,500 privilege-card holders.
"We are constantly updating the website and use mail-outs to attract trade," said Neil.
"Card holders can get a free coffee at the moment - that is a market we are looking to break in to."
