Greene King has invested £4.5m in a new depot in Nottinghamshire to meet the increasing demand for Greene King beers in the midlands and the north.

Around 25 million pints of real ale consumed in

the region over the course

of the next year will have

been supplied from the

company's new distribution centre.

Greene King Brewing Company managing

director Justin Adams

said: "This signals our

commitment to the region's pub-goers and beer-lovers as well as our determination to keep local roots in what was Hardys & Hansons' heartland. We have some fantastic pubs in the region and are looking to provide them with the best possible service."

The new depot in East-

wood, Nottinghamshire will

be the biggest and best-equipped Greene King distribution centre in the country, featuring state-of-the-art facilities and energy-efficient storage.

Adams added: "We will continue to carry the torch for hand-pulled beer, investing heavily, building brands and increasing sales.

Hardys & Hansons' popular Olde Trip ale has doubled its sales since Greene King took it over in September last year.

"Cask beer is a live product and needs to be kept between a cool 11°C and 13°C through whole supply chain.

"We focus heavily on quality at Greene King and the new depot has a state-of-the-art cold storage facility that will ensure our beers are stored and delivered to our customers in peak condition."
