Pub goers want staff to get their jugs out
The Orchid Group has launched a new campaign to 'Bring Back Jugs' in pubs and says the campaign is being 'swallowed up' by drinkers.
Simon Dodd, Orchid commercial director said: "Good old-fashioned, top quality beer and ale is what we're all about.
"We want to bring back the quality jug of beer experience and make our loyal customers really feel like this is their 'second home'. We've had the tankards engraved with customers' names so we can really give them that personalized touch - their favourite drink in their very own jug!"This is a very nice gesture and I feel really special drinking from my very own jugKevin "Big Kev" Palmer
The company says the scheme is a token of appreciation for the long standing regulars, whether they drink beer, ale or lager and it's going down really well with its managers too.
Dodd said: "Many of our managers were quick to support the campaign and customers are really enjoying the experience.
"Some locals are opting for their pub nickname to be engraved on their jug instead of their more formal 'day name'!"
Kevin Palmer, a regular at The Links in Fleet is affectionately known as 'Big Kev'.
He said: "This is a very nice gesture and I feel really special drinking from my very own jug. The Links is a popular local pub and having our own jugs really does make us feel welcome and part of this pub's community."
The old-fashioned tankards are made of glass and are laser engraved at the customer's request.
