Pub featured in hit film feels the benefits of Hot Fuzz
Film fans and tourists have been flocking to a Buckinghamshire pub featured in the new British comedy Hot Fuzz.
A number of the film's scenes, including a tense shoot-out, are shot inside the Royal Standard of England in Beaconsfield, and licensee Matthew O'Keefe has been welcoming visitors since the film opened last week.
The film, which stars Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, also features a cameo by ex-Bond star Timothy Dalton, who managed to squeeze in a quick pint in between filming.
"Tim Dalton came in and said: 'I'd love a pint of Brakes.'", said Matthew.
"He lives in America now and really misses the traditional pub. In the end he ended up doing a mini-beer tasting session for us!'
A semi-rural pub on the outskirts of London, the Royal Standard is the oldest freehouse in England, with a huge one acre car park, ideal for film crews and their entourage.
Matthew added: "We have a film and TV school close by, and we get to know people through this. If you're cool enough to let them infest you, then you can reap the benefits. Previously, we've had Midsomer Murders filming here."
"The filmmakers wanted some locals, so all of our regulars ended up being extras. They got a free meal and were happy!"
