Hosts urged to back Camra pubs week
More licensees are being urged to get involved with the trade's first Community Pubs Week, which kicks off in nine days' time.
Hosts throughout the country will be staging a variety of events and promotions to flag-up the unique contribution that British pubs make to their local community.
The Campaign For Real Ale (Camra) has already sent out thousands of free promotional packs to licensees but stresses plenty are still available.
The packs contain a range of promotional items, such as beer mats, posters and advice sheets outlining suggestions for events pubs can put on.
"We've already sent out thousands of packs to pubs but they are still available for licensees who might only just have decided to get involved.
"This is an excellent opportunity for pubs to flag up the vital role they play in their local community.
"Whether pubs are in towns, villages or more remote rural locations they are an essential part of the local infrastructure and this is a great opportunity for people to be reminded of what they do and embrace them for the superb amenity they can offer," said spokesman Owen Morris.
Community Pubs Week has evolved from the former National Pubs Week and changes the focus to reflect the growing community role pubs now play.
The week runs from 17 February to 24 February. Licensees can order their packs by telephoning Camra on 01727 867201, or by emailing gillian.dale@camra.

The new Community Pubs Week is aimed at supporting a range of Camra-led initia-
tives, including the Com-munity Pubs Foundation, launched in 2005 to support campaigns and community groups helping to save pubs.
